Project: Special Tuck Closer for cartons of toffee
The challenge was to see if an automated solution could successfully close the carton lid without damaging the product. Tekpak built a prototype machine in its Wexford factory and incorporated a tilting mechanism to push the bags towards the back of the carton so the contents don’t interfere with the closing of the box. “They found a very creative way to ensure the product was packed neatly in the boxes,” Operations Director. more.......
Before Tekpak were involved, individual plastic bottles containing nutritional supplements were taken off the production line in batches in plastic trays. They were then moved to a packing area in batches where the products were packed by hand into cases, a process which involved 4-5 people.This often led to a back log in production as the production line was capable of producing 200/min but the hand packing process was capable of only 80/min. more......
Our customer - a supplier to some of the largest supermarket chains, wanted to automate the end of line packaging of cakes and muffins. In the past they were removed from the line manually and stored for cooling on wire trays then manually batch fed into the downstream packaging equipment by hand and placed into the acetate trays. more......
Project: Automatic Loading of Watergel explosives into cases
Our customer asked us to look at the possibility of automatically loading watergel type explosives into cases. This was being done by hand taking 2 people to complete the process. Although labour savings were the main issue, our customer was also keen to eliminate manual handling from the packaging process for health and safety reasons. more......
